Acacia (Mimosa)

Available October-May with highly scented yellow flowers with feathery leaves.

 

Achillea

Available April-October this yellow flower is also suitable for drying.

 

Agapanthus

Available in December and June-July has magnificent umbels of blue flowers which open over a long period of time.

 

Allium

Available June-August in a large or small headed flower of deep purple – can smell of oinions.

 

Alstromeria (Peruvian Lily)

Available all year round with very showy flowers with beautiful markings in pink, yellow, orange, red and white

 

Amaranthus

Available May-November both in upright and trailing varieties.  These flowers are available in pink, green, or red

 

Anemone

Available November-March  with soft petals and a large centre. Colours include pink, purple, red and white.

 

Amaryllis (Hippeastrum)

Available October-April these magnificent flowers last over a long time with flower heads opening gradually.  Colours are pink, white, red and multi-coloured.

 

Anthurium

Available all year round with waxy flower petal looking spathes with a long spadix in the centre.  Colours are red, white, pink and green.

 

Antirrinum (Snapdragon)

Available April-October the cottage garden flower in pink, white and yellow.

 

Aster

Available all year round with numerous flower heads to one stem.  Colours include white, blue and pink.

 

Astilbe

Available June-November these soft feathery plumes of flowers are best used with all the foliage removed to allow all the moisture to go to the flowers.  Colours include white, pale pink and dark pink.

 

Astrantia

Available November-August with several delicate flower heads on one stem.  Colours include white and pink.

 

 

Bouvardia

Available all year round with several small florets to one stem . These flowers are usually conditioned in their own flower food and colours available include pink and white.

 

Campanula

Available May-July with bell shaped flowers along the stem. Not a very long lasting flower.  Colours include pink, white and blue.

 

Carnation (Dianthus)

Available all year round, these long lasting flowers, sometimes scented are available in a large range of colours.

 

Carthamus

Available June-October, these bright orange flowers look almost like small thistles with prickly leaves. 

 

Celosia

Available May-November the Cristata varities look like ‘brains’ and colours include orange, red, burgundy and pink.  The Pllumosa varities have feathery plumes and come in red, yellow and pink.

 

Chrysanthemum

Available all year round in large blooms or sprays of flowers in several colours which are long lasting.

 

Cornflower (Centaurea)

Available April-August these small bright blue flowers are not particularly strong but beautiful.

 

Curcuma

Available May-November these exotic flowers with pink bracts are very unusual.

 

Cymbidium Orchid

Available November-March these exotic tropical flowers are a joy and sometimes scented.  Large flowers heads creep up the stems with intricate markings around the lip of the flower.  Very long lasting and available in white, pink, green and yellow.

 

Dahlia

Avaiailable June- September with large bold flower heads in orange, pink, burgundy and  white.

 

Delphinium

Available May - October these tall spikes of flowers are available in blue, lilac and white.

 

Dendrobium Orchid

Available most of the year these delicate flowers come in white and pink and are very long lasting.

 

 

 

Eremurus (Foxtail Lily)

Available June-August these tall spikes of flowers are unusual in that they open from the bottom to the top. Very striking and available in orange and yellow.

 

Eucharis

Available most of the year the beautiful pure white flowers fall downwards from the top of the stem and are related to orchids so are long lasting.

 

Euphorbia

Available September-February in trailing or bush varities.  Small flower bract heads in white, orange and red. These flowers and stems produce a white sap when cut so care must be taken when handling.

 

Freesia

Available all year round and are a great favourite for their high scent and range of flower colours.

 

Gentiana

Available June-October with small flower heads appearing up the stem above the leaves.  Colours include blue and white.

 

Gerbera

Available all year round these large daisy shaped flowers come with a black centre or without and in a vast range of colours.

 

Gladioli

Available June-October with flower heads that open from the bottom to the top of the stem.  Remove the tip of the flower to encourage them all to open.  Colours include, white, red, orange, purple and green.

 

Gloriosa

Available most of the year these very delicate flowers have petals that turn back in yellow and red and are very unusual.

 

Gypsophila

Available all year round with a mass of small delicate flowers to one stem.  Available in white and pink.

 

Heliconia

Available August-April these exotic spikey flowers are very striking.  They come in red, yellow and orange.

 

Hyacinth

Available December-April these bulbs are highly scented and as cut flowers can last well if the bulb base is left on them.  Available in white, blue and pink.

 

Hydrangea

Available April-October with large flower heads made up of several florets.  Colours include blue, white and pink.  There is also a mop head variety where the florets open slowly.

 

Iris

Available most of the year with 3 petals that are almost folded back on themselves.  Majority of flowers are blue and white is available.

 

Kniphofia

Available May-October these strong spiked flowers which open from the bottom upwards are only available in orange.

 

Lily of the Valley (Convallaria)

Available April-May these dainty highly scented  white flowers are popular for weddings.

 

Lisianthus (Eustoma)

Available all year round these delicate flowers come in single or double headed colours include white, pink, blue and green.

 

Leucadendron

Available most of the year this spikey leaved flower has strong small dark crimson leaves all the way up the stem with a larger head at the top.

 

Leucospermum

Available July-November these look like pin cushions and come in yellow and orange.

 

Liatris

Available most of the year this stunning pencil shaped flower opens from the top downwards and is available in vibrant purple.

 

Lilies

Available all year round – scented or unscented they speak for themselves with their flowers lasting over a long period of time.  Colours include white, pink, red, yellow and salmon.

 

Limonium

Available all year round.  The soft emille limonium has several tiny flowers and the statice limonium has clusters of flowers on top of the stems. Both available in blue, white and pink and both varities can be dried.

 

Molucella

Available most of the year this unusual flower has bracts in clusters all the way up the stem  Only in green and can be dried but goes opaque in colour.

 

Muscari

Available January-April this small bulb resembles a bluebell.  Only available in blue.

 

Narcissi (Daffodil)

Available January-March predominately yellow or white, some can be highly scented – just makes you think of spring.

 

Nerine

Available August-December these delicate bell like flowers open on top of the stem and are long lasting.  Colours include pink and white.

 

Nigella (Love in the Mist)

Available April-July very delicate paper thin petals open up with a small black centre.  Colours include blue and white.

 

Ornithagalum

Available most of the year the arabicum variety has a rounded shape and the flowers open from the outside towards the centre whilst the thyrsoides variety is pointed and opens from the bottom up.  Long lasting and unusual available in white or orange.

 

Paeony

Available April-June these stunning blooms are very popular despite their short season. Colours include white, pink and red.

 

Papaver (Poppy)

Available May-June these extremely delicate flowers are not often used commercially but the seed heads are popular in dried arrangements.

 

Phalenopsis (Orchid)

Available all year round these exotic flowers are long lasting but expensive.  Used mainly for wedding work, mainly white flowers.

 

Phlox

Available most of the year with soft daisy like flowers that open over a long period of time, as one flower dies another one opens.  Colours include white, pink and violet.

 

Protea

Different varieties are available most of the year and they have a large single head with a large centre. Colours aare red and pink.

 

Ranunculus

Available January-May these tightly curled flowers almost look too heavy for the stem.  Colours include Yellow, Red, Orange, burgandy and white.

 

Roses

Available all year round from small to large headed in size with numerous colours available.

 

Scabios

Available June-September these delicate lilac flowers have a pin cushion centre.  .

 

Scilla

Available April-May with pale blue spikes of flowers like a smaller version of a bluebell.

 

Solidago

Available all year round with soft plumes of yellow flowers starting half way up the stem and creating a larger flower head at the top.

 

Strelitzia (Bird of Paradise)

Available all year round these striking flowers with orange and blue bracts look just like a bird flying.

Stocks (Matthiola)

Available March-July with several small flower heads to one stem and highly perfumed . Colours include white, lilac and cerise.

 

Sunflowers (Helianthus)

Available May-October with daisy like heads of yellow with a deep brown centre.  Large or small varities are available.

 

Sweet Peas (Lathyrus)

Available April-July these delicate flowers are a gardeners delight – not very long lasting but most have a strong perfume.

 

Syringa (Lilac)

Available January-April with a mass of small highly scented flowers to one stem.  Colours available include lilac and white.

 

Trachelium

Available all year round a flat headed flower composed of tiny flower heads.  Colours include white and blue.

 

Triteleia (Brodiaea)

Available April-July with small delicate flowers in a trumpet shape that open over a long period of time, as one dies another one opens.  Available in blue.

 

Tulips

Available January-April with single flowers, double and parrot varities available . Colours include yellow, red, orange, lilac, white and two tone.

 

Veronica

Available all year round with a single thin spike of a flower and a few smaller ones below. Colours available lilac, blue and white.

 

Viburnum Opulus

Available January-May these small lime green pom pom flowers are a real eye catcher.

 

Zantedeschia (Calla Lily)

Available most of the year but can be scarce in the summer time.  Large varities are white with the smaller ones available in orange, pink, yellow, burgundy and white. There is also a variety called Green Goddess which is a large flower with green and white markings.
